Spreading God's love and connecting communities through the creation of  murals

Mission Statement:

Communities Supporting Communities

Murals for Missions started as a seed of an idea in 2015.

We were planning a mother-daughter experience like no other, a trip to the Dominican Republic to volunteer to work with Haitian refugees.  While planning we learned that part of our efforts would be completing work on a children’s medical clinic.  We thought, who doesn’t remember going to their pediatrician and seeing a cool mural or interactive toy on the wall!  We knew that we wanted to bring our God given gifts and talents to the Dominican children.

So we began planning a tile mural.

Maggie drew out a beautiful design and transferred that to individual tiles.  She had a younger brother and sister who were not old enough to attend an international mission trip and she really wanted to think of a way for them to be involved in the project….then …. Boom, IDEA!  Children and teens from our community could paint the tiles for the children receiving the mural gift in the Dominican Republic!   We went about planning and hosting painting events in our neighborhood.  We ended up meeting at the local ice cream shop, Cups & Cones. Kids would trickle in and join the painting fun.  We all started painting…and within a few hours the mural was complete.  One day. Many happy kids later.

Emily McElmurry is a mom of 3, artist, and mental health professional.

Maggie McElmurry is the most brilliant, beautiful, dynamic teen (okay, mom wrote this…) with interests ranging from running, sailing, hanging out with friends and making art.

We are on a mission to show God’s love in action by connecting communities through art.
